Jackson Young Professionals Award $750 Grant to Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan
When the Jackson Young Professionals (JxnYP) was formed in 2014, the mission was clear: support the Jackson community anyway it could. Little did they know, with the help of the Jackson Community Foundation and the Consumers Energy Foundation, they would be able to make an immediate impact on another nonprofit in Jackson. The Foundations helped establish a donor advised endowment fund for grantmaking in the community.
“When the JxnYP Endowment Fund was created, it was clear our members were passionate about working with children and community beautification through many of our volunteer efforts,” said Kyle Liechty, Board Member of JxnYP. “For our first grant, we wanted to contribute to a cause working with either of those areas and leave it up to member voting to decide who the recipient would be.” This year, three applicants met the criteria and presented their proposal at the December JxnYP large group meeting. After votes were tallied, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan was selected to receive the $750 grant and will use the funds for youth engagement/mentorship in STEM programs for girls in the Jackson Community. “We are so grateful for the support of Jackson Young Professionals and the investment in our girls!” said Joelle Primeau, Fund Development Specialist of Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan. Joelle was in attendance at the January JxnYP large group meeting to accept the award. “We are proud to support other nonprofits in the Jackson area and look forward to growing the JxnYP Endowment Fund to continue making a difference for our community,” added Kyle.
